Issue 22: Project Winnin Proceeds Optimistically
Project Winnin, the Australian-designed missile decoy system designed to lure an approaching anti-ship missile such as Harpoon (to be used by Australian Forces) and Exocet away from its intended target, could be developed faster with Australian industry involvement, according to Defence sources.
A move to interest local industry in the project was signalled by the Defence Minister, Mr Gordon Scholes, who announced late in January that registration of interest would be accepted by the Department of Defence Support up to March 30, 1984. This relates to the development and marketing of the Winnin system.
