The Flying School with a Difference

When flying instructor David Gowing found that people in remote areas wanted to learn to fly, but could not leave their stations to go to his flying school, he took the flying school to them.

Gowing, who operates his flying school and charter business at Kempsey on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, has taken two aircraft to such remote areas as Longreach and Quilpie in south-western Queensland, spending up to three months there teaching people to fly.

“It is important that these people learn to fly. They deserve special consideration from the industry and from the authorities because of their isolation,’ Gowing said.
