In its report into the near collision involving Cessna 172S, VH-KOJ, and Cirrus SR22, VH-XC5, on 22 January, the transport safety watchdog found the Cirrus passed 46 m behind and 99 ft below the Cessna, due to “inadequate spacing” on the part of the faster Cirrus.
Regular Outback Air Race participant Ian Campbell, founder of dairy company Barambah Organics, and his daughter Hannah were killed when the Beechcraft A36 Bonanza they were flying crashed in Stockleigh, seven minutes after taking off from Archerfield Airport at around 11am on Monday.

The Sydney Morning Herald earlier this week reported on a proposal to build 30,000 homes on the airport site and extend the metro line at least one more stop, but both AMG and its owner Aware Super have told Australian Aviation that those plans are not on the cards.
