A Decade Serving Australia Qatar Airways Celebrates

Qatar Airways will celebrate its 10th anniversary of direct services to Australia on 7 December 2019. Australian Aviation talked with Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker exclusively in Doha

On 7 December 2009, Qatar Airways made its first flight from Doha to Melbourne, operating a Boeing 777-200LR three times per week. The carrier has continued to establish a strong presence in Australia during the last decade and is one of the big three Gulf carriers, beside Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways, serving this market.
