A pilot’s reason to fly
Pilots come in different forms, with varying motivations and abilities. But there is one constant that I find in all pilots – they’re goal driven people who have a reason for finding themselves above the clouds, not just because they can. All pilots know ‘why’ they are flying.
When the Red Bull Air Race had its second coming in 2014, I was able to recapture the ‘why’ for my flying. I had set out to win the world championship way back in 2008 when my air race journey first began. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy flying when the series went on hiatus from 2011-2014, but as a goal-oriented person I was able to continue the pursuit of something I felt important to my aviation career.
