There was a clear sense of pride in John Borghetti’s face as he officially launched his airline’s new Boeing 777-300ER business class at a special media event in Los Angeles in late July.
Virgin Australia has done many things – both in the air and on the ground – to position itself as a real alternative to Qantas as a full service airline since Borghetti took his seat as chief executive in 2010, with new premium passenger lounges, new crew uniforms and new service offerings just three of the more tangible examples of change.
