Airport drinking faces a dry future

The mayhem caused by boozed-up passengers is back in the news, with the United Kingdom’s aviation minister Tariq Ahmed stating his intentions to look into the current regime of airport bars, duty free alcohol sales and onboard licensed drinks in order to cut down on disruptive passengers.

Some of this may be down to the exuberance of a new minister after a change of leadership wanting to make headlines, and indeed the UK transport department did not have further details of any plans. But there is a decent amount of sense in reviewing the issue, even if an actual ban feels like something of an overreach at present.
