“I love it and the higher the price of fuel goes the better it looks.” While Richard Aboulafia, noted analysts with the Washington DC Teal Group is a great rap for the 747-8I, Boeing has struggled, up till now, to get airlines to think quite in those terms about the latest version of the venerable 747.

It seems incredible that the 747, born over 40 years ago, has so much life left certainly as a freighter and perhaps the secret to its longevity is the era in which it was designed.
