Avalon alight
Big news, bigger crowds for Australian Intl Airshow
Great weekend weather and a diverse flying program attracted strong public day crowds to the tenth Australian International Airshow at Avalon in early March, even if the number of trade exhibitors, and the size of their displays, was well down on previous events.
Always a show in two halves, Avalon’s trade show was noticeably smaller, with the world’s major aerospace and defence companies booking smaller stands, or deciding (like Boeing) to not have a trade show presence at all, while in contrast fantastic weather, the RAAF’s 90th anniversary celebrations and a strong line-up of military, warbird, classic and GA aircraft saw Victorians flock to the airshow’s Friday night and weekend public days.
