Issue 333: Globemaster
The RAAF’s eighth and last C-17 Globemaster touches down
It is said that generals are always planning to fight the last war and as if to underscore the point, the doubling of the RAAF’s fleet of C-17s to eight ensures Australia will never again be bound by the airlift capacity constraints it encountered during 1999’s deployment to Timor Leste.
On November 4 2015, high ranking RAAF personnel and VIPs attended an event billed as the ‘Final C-17A Globemaster WRITER: TONY MOCLAIR Arrival Ceremony’ at RAAF Base Amberley, acknowledging the completion of one of the ADF’s most successful procurement projects in recent years.
