New routes, capacity and passenger experience coming from overseas carriers

This year and next will be remembered as one of the larger spikes in international routes and capacity in and out of Australia and New Zealand in recent memory, largely due to new routes, increased frequency and larger aircraft from foreign carriers, from Qatar Airways to United Airlines to China Eastern.

Yet the passenger experience on these aircraft can be opaque and inconsistent – you might not guess, for example, that Qatar Airways’ product to Sydney is inferior in business and economy to the product it’s flying to Adelaide. Useful to know if you’re connecting from elsewhere.
