Qantas grounds A380s after QF32 engine failure
The November 4 uncontained failure of the number 2 Rolls- Royce Trent 900 engine on a Qantas A380 just six minutes after it took off from Singapore led the airline to immediately ground its six strong A380 fleet.
Part of the engine disintegrated over the Indonesian island of Batam, about 25km south of Singapore, at 9. 56am local time while Airbus A380 VH-OQA was operating the QF32 service with 440 passengers and 26 crew onboard.
