In their respective 2025–26 yearly results released this month, Qatar Airways announced US$1.94 billion ($2.72 billion) in profit, while Emirates posted a profit of US$6.6 billion ($9.2 billion), making it still the world’s most profitable airline.

Airports

The $19.1 million runway extension, which will allow larger aircraft to operate to the airport unrestricted, was funded by $15.1 million from the Commonwealth, $2.5 million from the WA government and $1.5 million from the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley.

The Avro 504K replica, modelled after the Flying Kangaroo’s first plane, is set to form part of the “Task Eternal” opening exhibit on the history of aviation, operated in partnership with Qantas. The Flying Kangaroo saw 85.8 per cent on-time arrivals and departures in April across all QF domestic services, according to the latest BITRE data, with 2.2 per cent of flights cancelled. It comes as the airline was named OAG’s second most punctual major airline in the world last month.

The Rescue Access Procedural Training Reinforcement room is now open at Bankstown Airport’s Aeromedical Crewing Excellence Training Centre, and includes a winch training simulator, the Mixed Augmented Virtual Reality trainer, and a vertical access training wall.

The inaugural Soaring Scholarships have been granted to students from 18 schools in the Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Camden, Liverpool, Penrith and Wollondilly areas.
