Australian aerobatic pilot Paul Bennet is off to South Korea this month for the Sacheon Airshow.

The show, held at the Sacheon Air Base, attracts audiences of around one million per day, and will take place from October 22 to October 25. It will include solo aerobatic performances by Bennet in his Wolf Pitts FX, as well as military displays such as South Korea’s Black Eagles.

“I’ll do solo unlimited aerobatics, and Glenn Graham will fly with me doing formation aerobatics for the two-ship Sky Aces,” Bennet told Australian Aviation

“It’s just the standard aerobatic display that I regularly do, that I practice almost every day. So, very well-rehearsed with some cool manoeuvres, chalk rolls, forward flips, double hammerheads, tumbles.”

“You haven’t seen aeroplanes go end over end, or, you know, most people think aeroplanes can’t do that stuff.”

According to Bennet, this will be his 18th or 19th appearance at Sacheon, and he is always honoured to appear at the airshow.

“They get a lot of people there. It’s at a big air force base. It’s actually at the air force base where the Korean Air Force Institute is, where they build all their fast jets and training aircraft, and it’s a big air force base with several runways.

“It’s also a nice town – there’s a fairly heavy military aviation presence, and it’s a nice part of the world. Food’s good, and people are good, and it’s always nice flying in front of a million people.

“It’s an honour to be asked to fly at these types of events, like South Korea and China and Oshkosh in the US. It’s pretty special. When the best people in the world recognise that you’re a talented aviator, well, that’s pretty cool.”

According to Bennet, he has a major calendar of airshows when he returns from Korea, including Avalon at the end of February.

“We’ve got the Barrington Coast Air Show in Taree when we get back on the seventh of November, and then next year, sort of the main air show season kicks off with Avalon,” he said.

“Then we’ve got Hunter Valley Air Show on the third and fourth of April, Shellharbour on the third weekend in May, as well as flying at California International Air Show in Sacramento in March, and Sun ‘n Fun in April in the U.S. So, there’s a lot on next year.”

Bennet flew at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in Wisconsin, the world’s largest airshow, in 2025 and again this year.
