Forty aircraft are listed in the new allocation section this month and taking into account the monthly deletions, this represents a slight increase in the number of aeroplanes operated in Australia and brings the total to 10,636 including gliders. A good cross section of aviation is represented from balloons to another leased Boeing 747 for Ansett, helicopters to ultralights and ag aircraft to commuters. Skippers Aviation has added another two Metro 23s to their fleet making three in all and bringing the number of Metro 23s in this country to seventeen. Skippers is the third largest operator of Metro 23s in this country behind Hazelton and Kendell and is making large inroads into market share of the Western Australian commuter market with the Metros.

Two aircraft have returned from PNG recently, Cessna 150 Aerobat CYO and Cessna 210 Centurion EYZ. The Aerobat was imported new to Australia in June 1976 and was originally registered WXQ. It went to PNG during June 1988 and was used by the South Pacific Aero Club at Port Moresby until late last year marked as P2-SPA. Turbocharged Cessna 210 EYZ was built around 1980 and although it was issued with a standard American registration, N5399A, it never carried this as it was sold prior to its completion and issued with a personalised registration N289DB. A change of owner and another change of personalised registration to N93PC occurred before the aircraft came to Australia in September 1989 when it was registered JQS. In October 1993 it was acquired by Mapmakers at Boroko, PNG who operate a mixed fleet of aircraft, all turbocharged, to cope with the high altitudes required for survey and aerial mapping in that country. After two years in PNG it has returned to Australia, now owned by Aviation Technical Services of Hallett Cove SA.
