Held at the Hyatt Regency Sydney on Friday, 30 October, the annual Australian AI Awards recognised and celebrated the individuals and businesses that have developed and used innovative AI solutions to grow their businesses and shape the new ecosystem.
Queensland-based space research and technology company Starbound Space Solutions was revealed as the winner for AI Innovator – Aerospace Sector, praised for its AI-driven proprietary platform that is designed to help space companies streamline their technical compliance processes.
Meanwhile, OSINT Combine, a veteran-operated open-source intelligence software and training company, took the crown for AI Innovator – Defence and National Security.
This year’s Excellence Award was awarded to Jacob Carswell-Doherty, principal of Sydney-based law firm Jake McKinley – a known thought leader on the place of AI in the Australian court system.

Launched by Momentum Media in 2024, the awards have quickly become the definitive national benchmark for AI excellence, amid the extraordinary rise of AI reshaping every corner of the economy.
In 2026, the program returned for its biggest year yet, with 305 finalists spanning 37 group and individual categories.
Finalists and spectators spanning all industries gathered at the black-tie gala to network and celebrate the achievements of their colleagues and peers at the awards ceremony.
Leading AI consultants, rising stars and academics from across all industries, including cyber security companies, mortgage broking businesses, real estate agencies, healthcare companies, information technology professionals and more were nominated and awarded under the 37 different award categories.
To determine the winners, Momentum Media applied an independent, rigorous and transparent judging process, ensuring that every winner earns their place on merit.
Finalists’ submissions were presented to an independent panel of AI experts drawn from industry, academia and government who assessed each submission against the criteria of each award category.
The full judging panel convenes to review scores, discuss leading submissions and reach consensus on winners and finalists in each category. Where scores are tied, the panel chair facilitates discussion to reach a determination.
AI adoption is undeniably on the rise across the nation and the world. Research from the Australian Bureau of Statistics found that almost half of businesses reported embracing new technologies such as AI to boost efficiency.
In this environment, where businesses are pioneering innovative uses of AI, the Australian AI Awards recognises professionals, organisations, and solutions that have transformed the Australian economy.
Winning an Australian AI Award signals to organisations, investors, boards and clients that your work meets the highest national standard.
