1995 Regional Airline Directory
The Department of Transport Avstats unit forecasts that for the 12 months ending June 30 1995 the regional airlines of Australia will for the first time carry more than three million passengers. It is interesting to note that it took the regional airlines 19 years to get to the one million a year figure a further six to the two million and only a further three to reach the three million passenger mark. This year in our Regional Airline Directory we have identified 42 active operators so the figure is one down on the 43 of 1993/4. Again we have seen a year where there has been a high turnover of operators. For the 12 months under review we have recorded seven new operators while we have lost 10. This compares with the 1993/4 figure which saw the emergence of nine new airlines as against the loss of nine.
