On the Airbands
Bob Bostick is a resident of Germantown Tennessee USA. Tennessee is one of my favourite states in America, so it’s a pleasure to run your story Bob!
Late one night as Bob was flying near central Washington he overheard the following conversation on the radio: AIRCRAFT: “Seattle Center, Mickey Mouse at one-nine-oh!” ATC CENTER: “Hi ya Mickey . . . squawk ident. Who ya got on board tonight?” AIRCRAFT: “Oh let’s see. . . we got Mickey, Donald Duck, Goofy, Snow White, and some of the Seven Dwarfs with us this time!” Bob Bostick looked at his fearless leader in the left hand seat, and the Captain returned Bob’s look with a grin and a comment. . . “Must be some silly doofus fooling around on the radio!” But Mickey Mouse was for real! The aircraft was a Gulfstream bizjet registered N234MM, Walt Disney Corporation’s Gulfstream I, on the way back to California after a Disney show in Seattle! And you guessed it, they really had Mickey, Goofy and the whole gang on board.
Bob Bostick says “Thanks Mickey, you gave us some late-night grins, and that’s what you’re all about, isn’t it?” We often give Fleet Support and its Learjets callsigned Spider, Cobweb, BALDOCK, and Redback a mention. Recently one of its aircraft was towing a military target over the sleepy fishing village of Port Parham, about sixty five kilometres north of Adelaide, when things went amiss.
