The first-ever Australian Aviation Awards will reward aviation businesses that have most effectively demonstrated sustainable practice through products, so make sure you submit your entry now.
The Australian Aviation Awards (proudly sponsored by principal partner the University of New South Wales) includes 24 individual and company categories which seek to acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and resilience of the aviation industry amid a turbulent and challenging few years during the coronavirus pandemic.
The awards program will conclude with a black-tie gala dinner on Thursday 1 September 2022 in Sydney.
The Sustainability Initiative of the Year award category recognises the business that has most effectively demonstrated sustainable practice through products, service, and culture, while simultaneously strengthening Australia’s aviation capabilities, advancement, and recovery.
To qualify as a finalist, you would have most effectively considered environmental, social, and economic equity, demonstrated or introduced responsible use of natural resources, and integrated or innovated practices that enhance the lives of present and future generations.
This could be through improvements in areas like operations, manufacturing, consumption, consumer behaviours, investments, innovation, and technological and institutional changes.
A strong submission will detail your understanding of what it means to demonstrate sustainable practice in the aviation industry and your approach to sustainable practice across the business or initiative, and how it influences your actions and activities in your business.
Alongside this, entrants must outline the success of the sustainable practice with staff and customers, highlight their major achievements and milestones over the assessment period between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021, and how the business’ sustainable practice contributed to the outcome.
The submission will also describe how your initiatives have contributed to business growth and/or the broader aviation industry, along with your unique selling points or competitive advantages, and how these translated into market dominance or business potential.
The awards program is seeking visionaries to enter, and as such, the submission should detail the sustainable practices you are looking to implement in the future.
Entrants can provide or refer to a maximum of four supporting documents to bolster their submissions, including financial or business metrics, images, statistics, transcripts, media coverage, accolades, testimonials or recommendations/references, and any other relevant information.
In addition to this, we encourage you to include an optional short video up to 30 seconds long answering the question: “What does business success mean to you?”
All aviation-related businesses who demonstrate a form of sustainable practice are urged to enter the awards, regardless of revenue or geographic locations.
To be eligible for this award, the nominee must be an Australian business, organisation or institution (or a division of a global business that is registered to trade in Australia) that has a focus on supporting the Australian aviation supply chain.
The awards are peer-reviewed and judged by a well-regarded and trusted panel.
The Australian Aviation Awards includes a range of other individual and group awards for airlines, airports, support businesses, pilots, engineers, rotary businesses, industry associations, and female aviation leaders.

Submissions will close on Thursday, 30 June 2022, with the gala event set to take place in-person on Thursday 1 September 2022 at 7pm at The Star in Sydney.
