Airport proprietors: Now’s your chance to enter the Australian Aviation Awards

written by Malavika Santhebennur | April 6, 2022

As Australia celebrates the return of international travel to these shores, we are inviting all airport and aerodrome proprietors to enter the “Airport of the Year” category at the Australian Aviation Awards.

Proudly sponsored by principal partner the University of New South Wales, the program comprises 24 categories that will be celebrated and recognised at a gala dinner on Thursday, 25 August 2022 in Sydney.

The award commemorates the airport or aerodrome which has most effectively capitalised on market opportunities while supporting and strengthening Australia’s commercial or regional aviation industry.

The award recognises all airports – from small and large regional, to major metropolitan and capital city areas – that focus on freight, military, training, services or passenger movements.

The submissions are open to all airports and aerodromes irrespective of size, revenue or geographic locations, presenting you the chance to reflect on and highlight your major successes, achievements or milestones over the assessment period between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021.

All nominees must be listed as an Australian business, organisation or institution – or conversely a division of a global stakeholder registered for Australian trade – that prioritises supporting the Australian aviation supply chain.

Submissions are required to include your ABN, the month and year your airport commenced operations, the number of tenants leading on your premises and the total number of passengers for your airport during the assessment period.

In unison with these submission requirements, participants are highly encouraged to include a maximum of four supporting documents for the judges’ consideration. These can include financial or business metrics, images, statistics, transcripts, media coverage, accolades, testimonials or recommendations and references that may boost your submission.

Additionally, there is an option to submit a 30-second video answering the question: “What does business success mean to you?” which will further strengthen your application.

The first-ever Australian Aviation Awards also includes categories for pilots, engineers, women in aviation and rotary services, while the company categories consist of airline and start-up of the year.

To enter the awards, visit the website below to register, download the category criteria, follow the criteria, and submit an entry. Finally, simply save and confirm your submission.

Submissions will close on 30 June 2022, with the gala event set to take place in-person on Thursday, 25 August 2022 at 7pm at the Australian Turf Club, Sydney, and will provide a space for professionals to network with their peers and showcase their successes.
