The low-cost carrier, which initially planned to fly four times per week to the Gold Coast starting 25 October, says it has seen strong demand that has prompted it to increase its services to daily, two months before Western Sydney International Airport opens to passenger traffic.
While existing Commonwealth Bank credit cards will continue to provide Qantas Frequent Flyer points at a lower earn rate, CBA customers in the bank’s Yello rewards program will have the option to convert their Yello points to Velocity Points.
The South Korean flag carrier will take over the service formerly operated by Asiana Airlines prior to their merger, with three 787-9 flights to operate per week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 18 December through 14 March 2027.
Tully – appointed as CEO in 2024 – will be replaced by aviation veteran Steven Greenway, who has previously worked at companies including Flyadeal, WestJet and Scoot. The transition comes following a renegotiation of Alliance’s E190 wet-leasing contract with Qantas.
The regional carrier, which brought back the Saturday flights on 28 March to support the peak tourism season, will continue the fourth weekly service from 31 October until 19 December.
VH-NPU “Meekatharra” is the second ex-Qantas F100 to be donated to HARS, following the arrival of VH-NHO at its Parkes museum earlier this year. QantasLink is phasing out its ageing F100 fleet, to be replaced with mid-life Embraer E190s.
