Tickets have gone on sale for the 2024 show, slated for 16 to 18 August in Surfers Paradise, with organisers signalling plans to extend the event along the beachfront after last year’s show attracted around 250,000 people including 100,000 paying attendees.
Speaking to Australian Aviation for its latest cover feature, Kevin Elliott said, “I spent 14 years building my company and half a day dismantling it.”
The Australian flew his MXS-R and performed alongside fellow team member Emma McDonald, who made her first major display on international soil.
The airshow, which was created by the team behind the Pacific Airshow at Huntington Beach, California, attracted around 200–300,000 total attendees over the weekend, either paid or watching from a distance. Organisers have now told local media that there is room to grow up to half as much again.
Organisers estimate the event attracted just under 100,000 paying attendees, but the overall number watching on from balconies or further up the beach could swell numbers to up to 300,000.
Running until 20 August, the airshow features aerobatic displays, demonstrations of RAAF and US military aircraft, street vendors, STEM exhibitions, art, entertainment, and other attractions. The Australian Aviation team is on the ground to cover the event.
