Magellan has released its latest handheld/yoke-mounted Gps, the Skyblazer Xl. Magellan says the Skyblazer Xl has more than 20,000 pixels in its display, giving it the highest resolution in its class, and the largest aviation database of any handheld Gps unit.

General Aviation Sesse Caa Inquiry Extended
Transport Minister Laurie Brereton has extended the enquiry into the Civil Aviation’s handling of Seaview Air’s operations until March 1996. This is the second extension to the enquiry and according to Mr Brereton: “in view of the Government’s concerns at the length of the enquiry, this will be the final extension granted”.
Pw530a Certified
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PW530A turbofan engine has been granted its Type Certificate by Transport Canada – a company record with the whole process taking just 36 months from development to certification. The engine is the first member of the 3000-4000lb thrust PW500 family which is being developed jointly by P&WC and Germany’s MTU. The PW530A’s first application is on the Cessna Citation Bravo business jet, currently undergoing flight tests with initial deliveries scheduled for June this year. Preliminary design of the PW530A began in August 1992, the first test cell run took place in October 1993 and the engine’s first flight test was recorded in May 1994.
