Becoming the only manufacturer to do so, Cessna has rolled out its 2000th corporate jet, a Citation VII. The first Citation, a 500, was delivered in September 1972, while the 1000th, a Citation II was delivered in 1982, with Cessna expecting to deliver its 3000th bizjet in 2003, maintaining an approximate delivery rate of 100 per year. These impressive figures are highlighted by Cessna's 700 aircraft lead over the nearest corporate jet manufacturer, while a Citation takes off on a business mission every minute of the day. (Cessna)

General Peter Gration has rewired as the Chief of the Defence Force, he has been succeeded by Admiral Alan Beaumont. As part of the Federal opposition’s reshuffle, Robert Hill is now the Shadow Minister for Defence, while Senator David MacGibbon is the Shadow Minister for Defence Science and Personnel. David Jull remains the Shadow Minister for Tourism and Aviation. Meanwhile, within Government ranks, the new minister for tourism is Michael Lee, while Senator John Faulkner is the new minister for Defence Science and Personnel. Four new positions at Ansett Australia sees Rodney Garnier becoming National Sales Director Inbound/ Interline, while Bob Smith is the airline’s new International/Interline Special Projects Manager and Sandra McPhee becomes Sales Director, while Graham Hunter has been appointed Director Airport Services. Meanwhile Barbara Ward has been appointed as a new chief executive of Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services, replacing Paul Keen. Ansett NZ’s Chief Executive, Gary Smith has resigned, his replacement is Craig Wallace. Hazelton Airline’s General Manager, Bevan Coote, has resigned, while Managing Director and Founder Max Hazelton takes over as Chief Executive Officer. Terry Wesley-Smith, of Canberra based Aerospace and Defence Marketing Services has been appointed Pilatus’ Sales Consultant for the region. The Qantas Australian Group has made a number of new appointments within its Canberra office. Denis Dean is the new Qantas Group Sales Director for the Canberra region, while others in the new senior management are Gary Allomes, Manager Industry Sales and Promotions; Jill Johnson Manager Commercial Sales; and Richard Collard, Manager Retail Sales. Bob Millar has been appointed General Manager of BH Pacific. Aviation and airport consultants Airplan has appointed Brian Edmanson as their new Manager Projects. In other moves within Airplan Kym Tapscott becomes Manager Visual Aids; Stephen Henstock Senior Airport Electrical Engineer; Aden Cunningham Senior Civil Engineering Technician, while Kevin Langford will head Airplan’s airport facilities and operations team.
