The new enterprise agreement was supported by 61 per cent of pilots across the Australian and International Pilots Association and the Australian Federation of Airline Pilots and follows the rejection of a previous AIPA-backed offer in April.
The new 113-seat, 545-square metre Sydney domestic lounge at Terminal 2 will open in November, while the Plaza Premium Lounge will take over the former Virgin Australia lounge space in Cairns, opening in 2027. Plaza Premium Group is also set to upgrade its Brisbane international lounge.
Speaking to The Australian Financial Review in his first public interview as head of Cherrie Aviation, David May, former general manager of marketing and public relations at Jetstar, said the start-up airline is “not here to start a price war” with Qantas Group and Virgin Australia.
