Compass Failure Spells End of Australia Having a Third Domestic Airline

Living only half the time of its original namesake, Compass II’s demise sadly highlights two major truths of the nineteen-nineties Australian airline environment.

Firstly, that no independent third domestic airline will ever realistically serve this nation’s airways and secondly that to be a successful player with a Compass type fleet really requires nothing less than at least $200 million up front. It is for the latter reason that the former will never eventuate in at least the decade ahead.
