There is no shame in performing a go-around. This pilot duplicated young David's mistake with consequent results. Remember, discretion is always the better part of valour!
Air Safety
In the November edition of Australian Aviation, David, a low-time private pilot, learnt some valuable lessons about weather and cross-country navigation. This time David believes he has it all sorted out.
Get it right ….. the first time!
Although David was somewhat disheartened by his incident last year, he was thankful for the de-brief he obtained from his Chief Flying Instructor and the sympathetic hearing he received from the investigator from the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation.
Since then he had added another 25 hours to his log book and had completed half a dozen cross-country trips without any concerns. His confidence had returned, but Beverly, who he had married in November, was still somewhat anxious about her husband’s aeronautical skills.
