Hawker de Havilland Win Large Boeing Offset Contract:

Hawker de Havilland have won a major risk-sharing contract with Boeing to produce 26 separate components for the wing leading edge structure for the 747. Value of the contract, which will cover 300 chipsets, is $A130m and work should span the next ten years at least.

Hawker de Havilland is already the sole source supplier of wing spar ribs for the 757 and for the composite ailerons for the smaller 737 twinjets. With the recent massive sales of the 737 and a strengthening in demand for the 757 HdH are hoping for additional long term manufacturing contracts from Boeing on these two aircraft in the year ahead.
