USAF Provide ‘Sale of the Century’ to US Corporate Aircraft Manufacturers:

USAF has released a Request For Proposals (RFP) for up to 120 corporate-type aircraft to replace the Rockwell International CT-39 Sabreliner currently used in the operational support fleet. USAF are primarily interested in leasing the entire aircraft fleet including subcontracting maintenance and support tasks to an outside operator in an effort to reduce costs and improve deployment flexibility. As the mix of aircraft required is split roughly between 80 turbofans and 40 turboprop aircraft, Cessna is the favourite with either the marque of the Conquest or the Citation jet.

Rex Doing Well With Squirrel:

Up till the time of publication, Rex Aviation had written contracts on no less than 11 Aerospatiale Squirrel helicopters. Sales have comprised eight singles and three twins; there are now 21 Squirrel helicopters on the Register. The spate of Rex sales has followed on from the Defence Department’s order for 18 such aircraft for the training and liaison role. The RAAF will receive 12 aircraft and the Navy 6 with initial deliveries commencing this September.
