Your Kindle is not going to crash the plane
Good news for airline passengers from the United States: an Aviation Rulemaking Committee’s recommendations to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have finally killed the blanket ban on personal electronic devices during takeoff, landing and other phases of flight.
US airlines must receive approval for each aircraft type they operate, although by the time this magazine goes to print the majority of flights in the US will doubtless be approved – not least because much of the interference testing has been done during the certification of inflight Wi-Fi connections.
