Super Constellation confirmed for Longreach

Following on from the Warbirds column paragraph in the August issue regarding an aircraft auction at Manila Airport in the Philippines, it can now be disclosed that the Lockheed C-121J Super Constellation N4247K, c/n 4144, has been acquired by the Qantas Founders Museum at Longreach.

The Connie is a civilianised former US Navy Lockheed C-121J Super Constellation, Bu131623.
It later took up the US civil registration and is reported to have been abandoned at Manila International Airport in the 1980s after it went unserviceable after only a few fish hauling runs to the Tokyo Fish market.
