Wet Weather Considerations
For the average VFR pilot, flying in rain is not the preferred manner of flying. Visibility and avoiding flying into cloud are serious pilot considerations. And there are others. Rain is weather and weather is always unpredictable.
Flying in wet weather says that the pilot must get a good preflight forecast and understand it and its abbreviations. Check the area forecast and the TAFs for the aerodromes that you are going to or passing close by. Local knowledge and asking other pilots can help. It has been said that a forecast is typically only 75 per cent accurate. For the sake of safety, you have to abide by it but always have a plan B or an acceptable alternate on paper and in your mind. Preparation is key.
