Life jackets should be treated with care and respect
Life jackets should get a lot of respect to ensure that they work as advertised when needed. But it is unfortunate to record that does not always happen.
For the average flight school or charter operation life jackets are a pain. They cost money to buy and service, seldom get used to save a life and quite typically get abused in storage. It is often the case that stored life jackets are stuffed into a bottom drawer until required to be carried in an aircraft to cross a large stretch of water.
