Lifting the yoke
The full extent of regulatory burdens need to be measured
The government’s Aviation Safety Regulation Review and national inquiry into the burden of red and green tape must not be opportunitues lost. While the heavy jets will continue to ply our major airways we must understand that there are many other important forms of aviation, both commercial and private, that are struggling. Why is it that once-packed secondary airports and very active regional sites are now often lonely places except for the sporadic arrivals of the bigger operators? Long may these operators prosper but we must also look after the roots and branches of the aviation tree.
We want new players in our industry and young people stepping into the many professions aviation can offer. This means that the paths to entry must be smoothed and not higher barriers erected.
