My lifejacket came back from the service shop with a note advising that it had failed the service test and that it was now time to retire it. And that I did.

Lifejackets are an odd bit of kit for a pilot. They are an item that is not much discussed and yet we are very keen to be wearing one and have it work in the event of a ditching. And there has been a steady trickle of pilots ditching and using a lifejacket.
