Tough times?
An unprecedented international fare war was expected to erupt in April after Singapore Airlines slashed ticket prices by more than 50 per cent to 82 destinations in a 8desperate bid to entice Australian travellers to fill empty seats.
The fare sale is the biggest and cheapest offered by the airline in Australia, relative to average adult weekly earnings and came shortly after the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced a revised outlook for the global air transport industry with losses of US$4.7 billion in 2009.
