Skykraft has confirmed the first five satellites it launched to improve ATM in Australia are now functioning after launching last week.
Virgin Orbit’s CEO, Dan Hart, said his team would work “tirelessly” to understand the nature of the fault and make corrections for future attempts.
The mission had appeared to go to plan, but an as-yet unexplained problem appears to have occurred after the rocket was dropped from the aircraft.
It marks the company’s first commercial launch outside its Mojave base in California and comes before it plans to demonstrator launch at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport in 2024.
