John Vincent has been named as the new president of the Australian Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society. A 40-year veteran of the aviation industry, including roles with the Air Pacific, Ansett and Qantas, Vincent takes over from AIRCDRE Noel Schmidt AM CSC (Ret.). He will be in the role for the next two years.

Virgin Australia has appointed a former NAB executive as the first chief financial officer of its Velocity frequent flyer program. Sterling Brain will commence with Velocity in May, having most recently worked at NAB as its head of loyalty and also had roles with Boston Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers, Virgin said in a statement on Monday.
