Drone Alliance Europe has appointed Dannick Riteco as its new director general, putting a founder and regulatory specialist at the head of one of the continent’s main drone industry groups. The association represents a range of companies involved in the European drone sector, including Amazon Prime Air, Google Wing, Zipline, Manna, Wingtra, OneSky and others.
The fire, believed to have started due to a leak of liquid hydrocarbons and gases, hit Australia’s only onshore avgas manufacturer. Viva supplies fuel, including avgas, Jet A1 and Jet Plus, to all seven capital-city airports as well as 54 regional airports, as reported in The Australian.
In a bid to keep airfares low for passengers, the state government will kick in to maintain current prices under the Regional Airfare Zone Cap (RAZC) scheme, some of which were slated to increase from the middle of this year, and cover additional fuel costs on “critical intra-regional routes”.
Flagged in 2024’s Aviation White Paper, the package of bills introduces what Transport Minister Catherine King calls “a series of reforms to deliver a better deal for aviation consumers”, including an aviation ombudsperson and an Aviation Consumer Protection Authority.
Speaking to ABC Radio National, Transport Minister Catherine King said Australia is still continuing to receive necessary imports for jet fuel. It comes as Australia maintains 30 days’ worth of supply, according to figures released by Energy Minister Chris Bowen.
