A rebuilt replica of the aircraft that completed the first flight from America to Australia has made its first powered taxi run at HARS Aviation Museum.
HARS Aviation Museum will be exhibiting various types of Australian aircraft, including the Super Constellation “Connie”, which arrived in Australia in 1991 for restoration, former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Neptune 273, ordered by Australia in 1951, and former Vietnam War RAAF Caribou, first ordered in 1963 to replace its existing Dakota aircraft.
Aviation enthusiast Rod Knights has completed his 12-year mission to recover A20-714, which ditched in the lake during a low training flyover in 1950.
‘G for George’, flown exclusively by No. 460 Squadron over the skies of Germany, will be reassembled and transferred to a new area of the Australian War Memorial.
HARS Aviation Museum is set to fly its Douglas C47/DC3 over Sydney Harbour on Thursday to mark 85 years since the aircraft’s first flight.
