As part of the Defence Work Experience STEM Immersion Program, the 10 students spent a week at the Air Force base in the NSW Hunter region, meeting with Australian Defence Force, Australian Public Service and Defence industry professionals.
Around 30 tonnes of engineered timber, also called glulam or GLT, is being used for the terminal’s raking roof frames, which the airport says “reinforces the terminal’s connection to the landscape that surrounds it” and saves around 40 tonnes of carbon compared to steel and concrete.
As reported by The Australian, the regulator has released results from the survey about the proposed fee, to be implemented from July next year, but only surveyed potential implementation methods and did not ask pilots about whether the fee should be imposed at all.
