First New 172 Flies

Cessna flew the first new production 172 Skyhawk for the first time on April 16 this year from the company’s Pawnee Division plant in Wichita, a significant step in the revival of the US general aviation industry.

It is the first new piston-engined aircraft built by Cessna for a decade and represents the beginning of a new era for the company, which will put upgraded 172, 182 Skylane, and 206 Stationair models back into production following the relaxing of the US product liability laws in 1994.
