“This partnership with The Helicopter Line reflects mutual trust and commitment toward a shared goal: operational success in demanding environments,” said Kris Lovell, Safran Helicopter Engines Australia managing director.

“Working hand in hand with the largest civil operator in the region is also about leveraging local proximity and expertise to support our customers’ ambitions over the long term.”

The contract covers in-service support and MRO for The Helicopter Line’s fleet of Arriel 1D1 engines. According to owner Mark Quickfall, it will “support The Helicopter Line’s growth strategy while enhancing its ability to provide exceptional services to visitors from around the world”.

“The Helicopter Line is pleased to formalise this partnership with Safran Australia. Bringing our 1D1 engines under the SBH (Support-By-the-Hour) program is a significant step for us, ensuring optimal availability and performance required to maintain our high standards,” he said.

“As a tourism operator, the ability to effectively manage cash flow with a guaranteed cost per hour that aligns with our seasonal activity is invaluable.

“This collaboration allows us to focus on our core mission: delivering outstanding service and breathtaking helicopter experiences that showcase Aotearoa New Zealand’s spectacular scenery.

“We look forward to the enhanced reliability and efficiency this close support from the OEM network brings to our fleet. A huge thank you to the teams at both Safran and The Helicopter Line for the commitment to formalising this support partnership.”

According to Safran, its SBH service “provides visibility on engine operating costs and smooths financial flows, while making scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations more flexible”.

“SBH is integrated into a range of high value-added digital services such as Health Monitoring, Expert Link and Online SBH,” the company says.

Around 50 per cent of Safran Helicopter Engines’ engine flight hours are covered by the service.
