Civil Register Update

Register Review

A large cross-section of aviation is represented within the 27 entries that make up the New Allocation section this issue.

On the lighter side, four balloons are listed: three locally built Kavanaghs and one imported British Colt. The Colt is a four-year-old balloon previously owned by J. Clifford and operated by Heritage Balloons of Bath in the UK prior to coming to Australia. It was named “Lordswood Daisy II” whilst flying in the UK. PDB, TRB, and XRG are brand new Kavanaghs straight from the factory where production of this virtually handmade balloon has reached 130. Kavanagh Balloons are available in a large range of sizes from the C-56 model to the E-300, the model number denoting the cubic capacity of the balloon with the most popular model being the mid-range D-105. There are now 212 balloons on the civil register, almost half of these being Australian Kavanaghs, which is an indication of the enormous following that ballooning has in this country.
