Export sales of the McDonnell Douglas F-18A now total 285 aircraft. Pictured is a two-seat TF-18 of the Canadian Air Force. Australia took delivery of its first F-18A in October, 1984 with the first locally assembled aircraft entering the RAAF inventory around Easter of 1985.

RAAF F-18 Hornet Programme on Target

The past six months have seen much progress on the F/A-18 Programme both in Australia and the United States.
In North America, the Hornet is now in service in the Canadian Defence Force and the US Marine Corps as well as the USN. Canada formed its first CF-18 squadron in October 1982 at the Canadian Force base Cold Lake in Alberta.
In December the USMC activated its first F/A squadron at MCAS El Toro in Southern California. About 80 F/A-18 aircraft are now in service.
