A Super delivery

The first five ‘Rhinos’ taxi in from Amberley’s runway 33 at the end of their eight day trans-Pacific delivery flight from Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore, California, on March 26, barely three years to the day after then Defence Minister Brendan Nelson announced the government’s decision to procure 24 Super Hornets for the RAAF.

The jets shut down on the flightline in front of 1SQN’s carports – until recently occupied by F-111s – where VIPs, RAAF personnel, Boeing representatives and family and friends await to welcome the jets and their crews home to Australia.
