Flight Experience has announced that its simulators have received approval from CASA under FSD-2 as a Category B Synthetic Trainer, allowing pilots with an instrument rating to log time on them.

Pilots will now be able to log two of their three hours of instrument time requirements over a 90 day period using the Flight Experience simulators, which are also used by some pilots to prepare for interviews and for teaching of crew resource management skills.

“The Flight Experience cockpit is an accurate reflection of the size and layout of what you will find in the Boeing 737,” said Iain Pero, director of Flight Experience. “The avionics and flight dynamics also provide a good practice arena for instrument scans and gives pilots a feeling of what they can expect in an actual interview.”

Flight Experience operates centres in Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth where pilots and the public alike can buy time in its replica 737 simulators.
