The Brisbane Airshow will finally take place this weekend at the Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield after two years of delays.
Aircraft on display will include warbirds such as the Spitfire, Mustang, and Boomerang as well as an aerobatics display from Paul Bennet in his Wolf Pitts Pro.
The event was meant to run last weekend but was delayed due to adverse weather. This will be the first time it has run since 2019, with the 2020 and 2021 shows both cancelled due to COVID restrictions.
The 2021 show was postponed twice, first from its original date in July 2021, and then postponed again over its backup dates of October, with a decision being made to run the show in its ‘usual’ July dates in 2022.
The show will be held in the Brisbane Valley at the Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield, which has hosted Brisbane Airshow and Red Thunder Airshow in previous years.
A small number of attendees will be treated to a flight in a P51D Mustang aircraft as one of the three prizes available for retaining tickets bought for the 2021 event.
Others will nonetheless have the opportunity to purchase joy flights to take in some unique views of the Airshow.
While the aerial spectacle takes place overhead, some of the key players in the Australian aviation industry will be hosting stalls and displays as part of the aviation expo.
It comes two months after the Central Coast Airshow took place at Warnervale Airport in NSW.
Australian Aviation was there to chat to the key players for the event that also featured a display by the RAAF Roulettes alongside warbirds such as the Mustang, Spitfire, Kittyhawk, Warraway, Boomerang, and Trojan.
You can watch footage of the fifth-generation fighter flying below, and subscribers can also listen to our interview with aerobatics pilot Paul Bennet.
