Australia’s airport regulations, like many other parts of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (1998) and associated standards and guidance material, are in the process of being revised and updated. Significant changes, due to take effect from August 2020 following a comprehensive review and extensive industry consultation, have some important implications for anyone involved in the management or oversight of an aerodrome or helicopter landing site in Australia.
This article aims to provide a high-level overview of the way in which aerodromes will be classified under the new regulations, and how to prepare for the changes.
