The glare of aware
Flipside of the not so brave new world
It seems to have been a busy time for the aviation industry. There are brand new 737 MAXs stacking up in the staff car park at Boeing and a Ural Airlines Airbus A321 landing in a Moscow cornfield. Australia’s major airlines reported results in black and red, while a fledgling student pilot safely landed his Cessna after his instructor was apparently incapacitated. Throw in an inflight engine shutdown by a regional airline and an Air China A330 catching fire at the gate in Beijing and it is fair to say that the reading has been interesting.
Whether there has been a surge of activity, or merely a surge in reporting the events is open for debate. However, there is no doubting that there is an increased awareness of the industry like never before. More people are physically taking flight as passengers while an ever-increasing number are scouring the internet for footage of crosswind landings and new airline liveries rolling out of the hangar.
